Welcome to Grade 9 Ethics and Religious Culture ( ERC )!
This class is a Quebec Education Program requirement and is for credit. Although it is not evaluated by IB Criteria
many of the projects will intertwine with work being done in both the MYP III Design and performing arts classes.

Following the theme of world culture that runs within the performing arts program at the grade 9 level, students will explore the religion, cultural practices, ethical issues, and inspiring individuals from a cultural group other than their own. Creative displays, presentations, and discussions will expose students to a wide range of cultures and issues from home and around the world.

- acquire or consolidate, an understanding of how all individuals are equal in terms of right and dignity
- carefully reflect on aspects of social realities and subjects such as justice, happiness, laws and rules
- organize his/her ideas and express them with respect and conviction
- learn about elements of other religious traditions present in Québec and around the world
- grow and develop in a society in which different values and beliefs coexist

Frequently in class students will reflect upon a thought provoking quote or video related to the topic being examined and will respond in writing.
Each student should have a binder or notebook for this class which can stay in the classroom unless specifically sent home.
Apart from normal writing utensils, there are no special supplies needed for this class.
